So, what exactly is a planazo?
In Spanish, un plan is a plan. A planazo is a really good one – the kind worth cancelling your other plans for.
7 Planazos is our new series of very TCM recommendations: places we genuinely love, experiences we’ve tried, and ideas we think are actually worth your time. Not because they’re trending on TikTok or appear on every Mallorca must-do list, but because we believe they deserve a spot on yours.
Forget dinner and a film. Make it a day worth remembering – with seven of Mallorca’s most unexpected ways to spend time together.
There is something about Mallorca that makes an ordinary date feel slightly more cinematic. Perhaps it is the golden light falling across a vineyard, the first swim of the morning, a mountain path disappearing towards the sea, or a long table set beneath the stars in the middle of the island.
And by date, we don’t necessarily mean a romantic one.
A date can be an afternoon with your partner, a long-overdue day out with your best friend, a special adventure with your teenage daughter, or a memorable experience with your parents when they come to visit Mallorca.
Because sometimes the best dates are simply about spending time together somewhere a little more extraordinary than usual.
For those looking to trade the predictable for something memorable, we have gathered seven Mallorca planazos – from slow countryside afternoons and creative farm experiences to poolside escapes, sunrise rituals, a coastal hike and one spectacular sunset.
Because the best dates are rarely about where you go.
They are about what you experience together.

1) Son Bunyola – A day in Paradise
Where: Banyalbufar, northwest Mallorca
Some places feel less like a destination and more like a secret you have somehow been allowed to discover.
Set within an extraordinary Mediterranean estate on Mallorca’s northwest coast, Son Bunyola is the kind of place where a date can effortlessly stretch from lunch into golden hour.
Located near Banyalbufar, around 45 minutes from Palma, the estate sits among vineyards, olive groves and the dramatic landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana, with the Mediterranean stretching out below.
And while the setting alone would be enough reason to come, the food is a big part of the experience.
Sa Terrassa — lunch with a view
The estate’s main restaurant, Sa Terrassa, sits in front of the historic finca and makes the most of its extraordinary surroundings. The restaurant focuses on Mediterranean cuisine and local produce, with ingredients sourced from the estate’s own gardens and orchards wherever possible.
For lunch, the atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, with dishes designed for sharing — exactly the kind of food that encourages you to order several things, put your phone away and stay at the table longer than planned.
Expect seasonal Mediterranean flavours, fresh fish, vegetables, grilled dishes and local ingredients, accompanied by a selection of wines that puts particular emphasis on Mallorca and Spain.
In the evening, Sa Terrassa becomes a more refined affair, with individually plated dishes and an extensive wine list. There is also a bar for an aperitif, cocktail or glass of wine before dinner.
For an especially memorable occasion, private dining can also be arranged in different locations around the estate.
And the experience doesn’t have to stop at the table. Son Bunyola offers opportunities to explore the estate, from vineyard and wine experiences to walking, wellness and other activities.
The estate’s own wine story is another reason to linger. Son Bunyola has revived its historic connection with wine production, including its Malvasia grape, bringing a little more of the surrounding landscape into the glass.
This is not a date for rushing.
It is a date for lingering over lunch, ordering another glass, wandering through the estate and watching the mountains turn golden.
The mood: barefoot luxury, sea views, Mediterranean flavours and a very good bottle of wine.

2) Son Juliana: Wine, Tapas & Two Hours of Slow Living
Where: Santa Eugènia, central Mallorca
There is an art to a great wine date: enough time to talk, something delicious to share, and absolutely no reason to look at the clock.
At Son Juliana, in the countryside around Santa Eugènia, the experience revolves around wine, Mallorcan flavours and the slower rhythm of the island’s interior.
This is central Mallorca at its most peaceful: vineyards, open countryside and the soft colours of the island’s agricultural heartland.
Choose a guided tasting paired with regional tapas, or go deeper with a tour of the production area and wine cellar before sitting down to taste several wines alongside local favourites such as Mahón cheese, sobrasada, olives, almonds and pan moreno.
The setting is intimate, the pace is unhurried and the format lends itself beautifully to a first date, an anniversary, a catch-up with a friend or simply an excuse to spend an afternoon somewhere beautiful.
And if the date is going particularly well? Son Juliana also creates private experiences designed around special occasions.
The mood: Mediterranean wine country, shared plates and conversation that lasts longer than expected.

3) MallorcAmor: Meet the Mallorca Behind the Postcard
Where: Sineu, central Mallorca
For a date that feels genuinely connected to the island, head inland.
In Sineu, MallorcAmor offers something increasingly precious: the opportunity to experience Mallorca through its land, its producers and its food.
Set on a rural estate, the experience is wonderfully simple. Sit down at a table in the countryside and taste local organic products — artisan bread, extra virgin olive oil, Flor de Sal, cheeses, preserves, charcuterie, seasonal fruit and homemade treats.
Add a Mallorcan wine pairing if you wish, then wander through the farm, vegetable gardens and young orchards.
It is the sort of experience that encourages conversation without trying too hard.
There is also something wonderfully special about discovering an island together through its food rather than simply photographing it.
Before leaving, stop at Sa Paradeta, the farm shop, and take a little piece of the afternoon home with you.
And keep an eye on their calendar, too. MallorcAmor regularly hosts special events that turn a visit into something altogether more memorable — from creative workshops and wine tastings to intimate gatherings celebrating food, nature and local life.
Suddenly, “let’s grab a drink” sounds rather ordinary.
The mood: rustic tables, local produce, warm evening light and Mallorca at its most authentic.

4) Purobeach Santa Ponsa: The Day-Club Date
Where: Santa Ponsa, southwest Mallorca
This date is calling for sunglasses and a lot of suncream.
For the latter, make it a Purobeach Santa Ponsa day.
Located in Santa Ponsa on Mallorca’s southwest coast, this is Mallorca in its more glamorous Mediterranean mode: poolside relaxation, music, cocktails, sun and that unmistakable feeling of having temporarily escaped the calendar.
A day pass transforms the date into a mini holiday.
No airport. No suitcase. No check-in.
Just a full day dedicated to switching off together.
Start slowly, settle into your sunbed, take a swim, order something cold and let the afternoon unfold. It works particularly well for couples who believe that doing absolutely nothing together can, in fact, be an excellent plan – but equally well for two friends or a mother and daughter who simply want a proper summer day out.
Stay for the transition from bright Mediterranean afternoon to the softer atmosphere of sunset, when the whole experience takes on a different energy.
The mood: swimwear, good music, cold drinks and nowhere to be until tomorrow.

5) Sunrise parTEA: The Morning Reset
Where: Portixol, Palma
A date does not have to begin at dinner.
In fact, one of the most memorable ways to spend time together in Mallorca might begin before sunrise.
In Portixol, just east of Palma’s historic centre, Sunrise parTEA – Morning Reset brings together conscious connected breathwork, meditation, aromatherapy, Reiki, oracle cards and silent-disco movement as the sun rises over the Mediterranean.
The 90-minute experience begins at 6:30am — which may sound ambitious until you imagine the alternative: waking up while most of Palma is still asleep, breathing by the sea and watching the first light arrive.
The morning finishes with butterfly pea tea and the option of taking a dip in the Mediterranean.
It is a date for people who want something a little more meaningful than brunch — an experience designed around presence, connection and beginning the day differently.
And yes, you can still go for breakfast afterwards.
The mood: sunrise, sea air, bare feet and a shared feeling that you have already lived half a day before 8am.

6) Cala Agulla to Cala Mesquida: The Date That Becomes an Adventure
Where: Capdepera, northeast Mallorca
For those who would rather collect memories than reservations, head east.
Just outside Capdepera, in the northeast of Mallorca, the Parc Natural de la Península de Llevant feels like a different island altogether.
Wild coastline, pine forests, dry-stone walls, mountains, dunes and turquoise water come together in one of Mallorca’s most beautiful natural landscapes.
For an easy date-friendly adventure, take the Camí des Coll de Marina, which connects Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida.
The official route is around 2.9 kilometres and takes approximately one hour, with a low level of difficulty. That makes it ideal if you want the feeling of an adventure without committing to an entire day’s hike.
Starting at Cala Agulla, the path heads through Mediterranean pine forest and gradually climbs towards Coll de Marina. Along the way, you’ll pass dry-stone walls and traces of Mallorca’s traditional rural landscape before descending towards Cala Mesquida.
And then comes the best part.
The path finishes beside the spectacular dune system of Cala Mesquida, where you can swap hiking shoes for bare feet and continue the date with a swim in the Mediterranean.
Make a morning of it: start with a coffee, walk from Cala Agulla to Cala Mesquida, take a swim and then stay for lunch somewhere nearby.
Or do it in reverse and finish the afternoon watching the light change over the sea.
For those wanting something more ambitious, the surrounding Península de Llevant offers longer hiking routes towards places such as Cala Torta and the mountains around Artà.
But perhaps the beauty of this particular walk is that it doesn’t require a whole day, specialist equipment or a heroic level of fitness.
Just comfortable shoes, some water and someone you actually enjoy walking with.
The mood: pine forest, turquoise water, sandy feet and a swim at the end.

7) Mirador de sa Foradada: Sunset, Naturally
Where: Deià, northwest Mallorca
And then there are the dates that need almost no planning at all.
Perched above the spectacular coastline near Deià, Mirador de sa Foradada offers one of those Mallorca views that needs very little embellishment: the Mediterranean stretching towards the horizon, the dramatic rock formation of Sa Foradada below and the Tramuntana mountains framing the scene.
It is an especially beautiful final stop after a day exploring the northwest of the island.
Our tip? Go off-season. While Sa Foradada can get very busy during the height of summer, spring and autumn offer a much quieter, more atmospheric experience. With fewer people around, there is more space to slow down, find your spot and actually enjoy the view – without feeling like everyone has come for the same sunset.
Arrive before golden hour, find a spot overlooking the sea and watch the landscape slowly change from green and stone to shades of amber and rose.
For a more polished version of the date, Foradada Mirador turns the sunset into an actual evening out, with food and drinks overlooking the same spectacular landscape.
Or keep it simple.
Bring a bottle of something chilled, two glasses and perhaps a few things to eat.
No elaborate itinerary required.
Just stay until the sun disappears.
The mood: one bottle of something chilled, two glasses, the Mediterranean below and nowhere else to be.
And there are plenty more planazos where these came from.
Because in Mallorca, a good plan can be anything: a long lunch, a swim after a walk, a glass of wine at sunset or simply finding somewhere beautiful and staying a little longer.
Consider this your invitation to make more plans, discover new places and turn an ordinary day into a planazo.
More planazos coming soon.
