Antique textiles, nomadic stories and one-of-a-kind pieces created to be worn.
On Friday, 11 September, designer Biba of Atelier Nomade comes to Obsolete Collective in Deià for an intimate afternoon introducing her new Nomadic Couture Collection and sharing the stories behind the garments.
Atelier Nomade grew from Biba’s travels and fascination with traditional craftsmanship, particularly in India, where she began collecting rare antique textiles and hand embroidery. Rather than leaving these pieces in the past, she gives them a new life – upcycling the fabrics and incorporating them into contemporary garments while preserving the history and craftsmanship they carry.
Each piece is created as a one-of-a-kind ceremonial art garment, combining antique textiles with raw handwoven silk. The kimonos and dresses are then handcrafted and individually customised at Biba’s atelier here in Mallorca.
During the afternoon, visitors can meet Biba, discover the new collection and hear about the origins, techniques and journeys behind individual pieces.
