🎉 Festes de Sant Mateu 2026 · Bunyola
For ten days in September, Bunyola celebrates Sant Mateu with one of those wonderfully packed village programmes where seemingly the entire town gets involved.
The official festivities run from 11–21 September, bringing together Mallorcan traditions, communal dinners, concerts, street parties, children’s activities, sport, theatre and a few events you’re unlikely to encounter anywhere else.
And yes — this is also the fiesta responsible for Bunyola’s now-famous Correguda en Roba Interior, when hundreds of people take to the village streets wearing very little indeed.
But there’s much more happening around it.
🎉 Friday, 11 September · Opening Night
The official festivities begin with the traditional ringing of the church bells and sweets being thrown into the streets at 17:00.

📣 19:30 · Official Pregó de les Festes at Teatre Municipal Rafel Ramis, delivered this year by Club Es Pedal
🍴 21:00 · Nit de Tapes in Sa Plaça, accompanied by music from Corazón de Bolero, a tribute to Los Panchos.

🌳 Thursday, 17 September · Pujada al Pi Ensabonat
Here’s another very Mallorcan fiesta tradition.
At 18:00 in Sa Plaça, competitors attempt the Pujada al Pi Ensabonat — climbing a deliberately greased tree trunk — accompanied by music from Grallalsac and Batucada Rebombori.
Simple concept. Considerably harder execution.

And then Bunyola takes its trousers off.
The XXII Correguda en Roba Interior is one of Sant Mateu’s most distinctive traditions, bringing crowds into the centre of Bunyola for an afternoon of costumes, underwear, music and general chaos.

There are also sports tournaments, children’s theatre, exhibitions, concerts and smaller community events throughout the programme, with some activities beginning before the official opening weekend.
If you want to experience a proper Mallorcan village fiesta rather than just drop in for one headline event, Sant Mateu is a good one to know. Come for dinner in the square, stay for the carretons, greased tree climbing, underwear running and midnight fireworks. Bunyola has range. 😂
