🩲 Correguda en Roba Interior · Bunyola’s Most Underdressed Tradition
Yes, everyone really does run through Bunyola in their underwear.
On Saturday, 19 September, one of Mallorca’s more wonderfully peculiar local traditions returns as hundreds of people gather in Bunyola, strip down and take to the streets for the XXII Correguda en Roba Interior.
Part race, part fancy-dress parade and very much a village party, the Correguda has become one of the biggest events of Bunyola’s Festes de Sant Mateu.
And despite appearances, speed really isn’t the point.
The tradition began in 2005, when a group of young locals organised the first underwear run as an alternative event for younger people during the village festivities. Around 100 people joined that first edition, and what started as something deliberately irreverent quickly grew into a Sant Mateu institution.
Over the years, the underwear has become increasingly creative. Expect everything from actual bras and boxers to elaborate group costumes, swimwear, pyjamas and outfits that require a fairly generous interpretation of the word clothing. Groups traditionally choose their own themes, and originality is considerably more important than athletic ability.
🩲 The 2026 Programme
The party starts well before anyone begins running:
🕔 17:00 · Gathering at Sa Plaça
📣 18:30 · Pregó of the Correguda
🩲 19:00 · XXII Correguda en Roba Interior
🏆 20:30 · Prize ceremony
🎸 21:00 · Live concert by Gas Butano
🪩 22:30 · The Clapthongs DJs
🌙 00:00 · End of the party
There are also official reusable cups available for €4 at Es Forn des Refugi, with free beer while supplies last for those who bring the official cup and participate in their underwear. Yes, apparently trousers really would be counterproductive here.
Part of Festes de Sant Mateu
The Correguda is just one particularly scantily clad part of Bunyola’s Festes de Sant Mateu, running officially from 11–21 September, with some activities before and after those dates.
The wider programme includes the Sopar a la Fresca, Cursa de Carretons, Pujada al Pi Ensabonat, Nit de Tapes, revetles, ball de bot, children’s activities, concerts and traditional celebrations, culminating with Sant Mateu on 21 September and closing fireworks.

Come to watch or come appropriately underdressed — but don’t expect a serious running race. This is Bunyola doing Sant Mateu its own way.
