A new film series arrives in Calvià as part of the PHOF Mallorca PhotoFest, inviting audiences to explore the relationship between cinema and photography through a curated programme of screenings and talks.
Under the title “La imagen insumisa: de la materialidad a la política”, the cycle reflects on how images shape the way we see — from early avant-garde experimentation to contemporary practices tied to memory, identity, and social critique.

The series opens with a special screening of Man Ray, el regreso a la razón (2023) — a 4K restoration celebrating the visionary artist’s experimental films from the 1920s, accompanied by a new soundtrack by Sqürl (Jim Jarmusch).
🎬 The programme includes iconic works such as:
– Le Retour à la raison (1923)
– Emak Bakia (1926)
– L’Étoile de mer (1928)
– Les Mystères du château de Dé (1929)
Followed by a round table with leading voices from the audiovisual and cultural sector, including Jaume Ripoll (Filmin), Maria Sebastián, Edu Biurrun, and Núria Abad.
