Covered Markets in Mallorca — Open Most Days

If you prefer shopping under cover – or just want a reliable market option whatever the weather – Mallorca’s covered markets (mercados) are a fantastic choice. Generally open Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays), they’re permanent, year-round destinations with long-established stalls run by knowledgeable local vendors.

Expect fresh fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, cheese, charcuterie, and local specialities. In Palma especially, covered markets double as social hubs, with bars and cafés where locals linger over coffee and conversation.

Good to Know — Mallorca Market Tips

  • Market times vary by town and season – mornings are best, and most wrap up by 1:00–2:00 PM
  • Public holidays and local festivals (fiestas) may affect whether a market runs – always worth checking ahead
  • Covered markets are the most reliable year-round option
  • Bring cash – many smaller stalls don’t accept cards
  • Go early – the best produce and atmosphere is always in the first hour or two
  • Parking can be tight in smaller villages on market day — allow extra time

Our Favourite Thursday Markets in Mallorca

Inca Market — Mallorca’s Biggest Market 🛍️

When: Every Thursday, approximately 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM Where: Town centre, Inca

Inca hosts the biggest market in Mallorca, and it’s well worth the trip. The town centre transforms into a sprawling open-air market, drawing visitors from across the island and beyond. Inca is particularly famous for its handcrafted leather goods — shoes, bags, belts, and jackets — made by local artisans. Alongside the leather stalls, you’ll find fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing, homewares, and local food products.

Whether you’re after a quality leather purchase or simply want to soak up one of Mallorca’s most iconic market experiences, the Inca Thursday market is a must.

S’Arenal Market — Beachside Bargains & Summer Vibes 🌊

When: Every Thursday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Where: Carrer Maria Antònia Salvà, Plaça Major, and nearby streets, S’Arenal

The S’Arenal Thursday market runs right through the heart of the town centre, spreading across Carrer Maria Antònia Salvà, Plaça Major, and surrounding streets. From April to October, it’s a lively, tourist-friendly market with a wide range of summer clothing, footwear, beach accessories, and gifts — perfect if you’ve forgotten your flip-flops or want a holiday souvenir.

Outside of peak season, it takes on a more relaxed, local feel. Worth combining with a stroll along the seafront promenade.

📍 Also useful to know: A smaller food, fruit, and vegetable market is held in Plaça Major on Tuesdays and Wednesdays too.
