.) Covered Markets in Mallorca (Open Most Days)

Covered markets offer a great alternative to open-air markets. Generally open Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays), they’re ideal for relaxed shopping, whatever the weather.

You’ll find long-standing stalls run by knowledgeable vendors selling fresh fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, cheeses, and local specialties. In Palma, covered markets also feature bars and cafés, making them a social hub as much as a shopping destination.

The Calendar's Note

*Alaro‘s market is held around Plaça de la Vila, surrounded by bars and restaurants with cozy terraces. It’s a lively spot where foreigners browse Mallorcan products, residents shop for fruit and vegetables, and families enjoy the atmosphere. Alaro is always a great idea for a Saturday outing!

*Palma’s Mercado Ecológico has taken place at Plaça dels Patins (Plaça Bisbe Berenguer Palou) since 2010. On Saturdays (and Tuesdays), 16 stands of local producers offer organic food like fruit, vegetables, bread or sausages and cheese.

Located in the historic center of *Santanyí, this bustling open-air market is the most visited in southeastern Mallorca. Held every Wednesday and Saturday year-round (excluding public holidays), it features over 150 stalls offering locally grown fruits and vegetables. Tourists and residents alike can enjoy the market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
