The pancaritat is a long-standing Mallorcan tradition – a day of gathering outdoors to share food, celebrate community and welcome spring.

In Lloret de Vistalegre, it’s a simple but special moment: music in the air, long tables under the trees, and a sense of togetherness that feels timeless.

💫 A true experience – slow, social, and full of heart.

The Calendar's Note

🌿 What is Diumenge de l’Àngel & Pancaritat?

Diumenge de l’Àngel (Angel Sunday) is celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter, and it marks the symbolic end of Holy Week on the island.

Traditionally, it’s a day to leave the town behind and head into nature — usually to a chapel, sanctuary, or forest area (like Sa Comuna in Lloret).

🍽️ The Heart of It: Pancaritat

The word pancaritat literally comes from “pa” (bread) + “caritat” (charity) — and that tells you everything about its origins.

Historically, it was a day when:

Food was shared with the community, especially those in need
People gathered for a simple, collective meal outdoors
It reinforced a sense of solidarity and togetherness after Easter

Over time, it evolved into what you see today:
👉 A big open-air picnic with friends, family, and neighbours
👉 Long shared tables, homemade food or communal dishes (like fideuà)
👉 Music, games, and a very relaxed, social atmosphere

🚶‍♂️ Why the pilgrimage?

The walk (or pelegrinatge) is also symbolic:

It reflects a spiritual journey after Easter
But today it’s just as much about community and tradition
Walking together with music, giants, and local groups makes it feel festive rather than formal
✨ What it feels like today

Less religious, more community ritual.

Think:

Kids running around in nature
Families setting up tables under trees
Traditional music in the background
That first proper “spring is here” feeling

It’s honestly one of the most authentic local Sundays you can experience on the island — no big production, just people coming together.
