💙 Diada de Mallorca 2026 · Celebrating Mallorca’s History, Culture & People
Every 12 September, Mallorca celebrates its official island day: the Diada de Mallorca.
More than simply a public celebration, the Diada marks an important moment in Mallorca’s history. On 12 September 1276, King Jaume II swore the Carta de Privilegis i Franqueses at the church of Santa Eulàlia – an event associated with the establishment of the Kingdom of Mallorca and the development of rights and institutions that would shape the island for centuries.
Today, the Diada is celebrated with a programme of culture, music, Mallorcan traditions, exhibitions, institutional events and activities across the island, usually extending beyond 12 September itself.
🎤 Rels B · The Celebrations Start Early
One of this year’s biggest events happens the night before.
On Friday, 11 September at 21:30, Mallorcan artist Rels B will perform a huge free concert at Parc de la Mar, co-organised by the Consell de Mallorca and Palma City Council as part of the Diada celebrations. Find out more here!
The following day, Rels B will be officially named Fill Predilecte de Mallorca.
🏅 12 September · Honours & Distinctions
One of the central events of the Diada will be the Premis, Honors i Distincions de Mallorca 2026, taking place at Teatre Principal de Palma on 12 September.
The awards recognise people and organisations for their contribution to Mallorcan society, culture and the island’s international profile. A total of 27 people and entities are being recognised in 2026.
Among this year’s most prominent recipients are Rels B and Concha Buika, who will be named Fills Predilectes de Mallorca.
🎶 More Events Across Mallorca
The Diada traditionally extends well beyond the institutional ceremony, with events taking place across Mallorca rather than only in Palma.
A few 2026 activities are already appearing in the Consell’s calendar, including cultural programming on 11–12 September, activities in the Serra de Tramuntana on the 12th and a Diada de Mallorca concert by the Balearic Symphony Orchestra at Teatre Principal on 18 September.
The full 2026 programme has not yet been published, so expect more concerts, cultural activities and traditional events to be announced shortly.
