Carnival in Mallorca 2026 🎭

February 2026

Every February, Mallorca comes alive with colour, music, satire, and extravagant costumes as Carnival takes over towns and cities across the island. From family-friendly daytime parades to lively evening processions and parties, Carnival is one of the most joyful and expressive celebrations of the year.

Key Carnival Events

Sa Rueta – Children’s Carnival

📅 Sunday, 8 February 2026
Sa Rueta takes place the Sunday before the main parade and is dedicated to families and younger children. Expect daytime parades, creative costumes, and a relaxed, playful atmosphere across Palma and many towns.

S’Arenal Carnival (Platja de Palma)

📅 Saturday, 14 February 2026
🕒 From 15:00 (TBC)
Held in El Arenal / S’Arenal, on the eastern end of Playa de Palma, this lively parade is jointly organised by Palma and Llucmajor. Head to Plaça de les Meravelles to enjoy a colourful procession with floats, music, and elaborate costumes.
The parade stretches over more than 2 kilometres, making it one of the longest on the island and a great option if you want a full Carnival experience by the sea.

Sa Rua – Main Carnival Parade (Palma)

📅 Sunday, 15 February 2026
🕔 From 17:00 (TBC)

The highlight of Mallorca’s Carnival takes place in Palma, with Sa Rua, the main evening parade. Often described as a smaller, island-style version of the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Sa Rua features competing groups, choreographed performances, live music, dancing, and singing.

Floats and costumes vary wildly in theme and colour, and prizes are awarded to the most creative teams at the end of the parade.
The annual Carnival contest is held in Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I.

Carnival route:
La Rambla → c. de la Riera → c. de la Unió → Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I → Av. de Jaume III

Fira del Ram – Palma Funfair 🎡

During Carnival, Palma also hosts the Fira del Ram, a huge annual funfair that runs from Carnival through to Easter weekend. With over 200 attractions, including rides, tombolas, bars, traditional stalls, water rapids, and even laser quest, it’s one of the biggest fairs of the year.

📍 Location: Son Fusteret (outskirts of Palma)
🚌 Bus no. 10 from Palma bus station stops nearby
🚗 Parking available

Food stalls offer everything from traditional Spanish dishes to classic fairground favourites like hot dogs and burgers.

Carnival Nights & LGBTQ+ Events 🌈

Throughout the Carnival weekend, many gay bars in Palma host themed parties and special events. Bars are especially lively in the Gomila area and along Avinguda de Joan Miró, with decorated venues, costumed staff and guests, and a festive atmosphere that continues well into the night – particularly on Sunday after Sa Rua.

ℹ️ More details, routes, and timings will be announced soon.
