๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ“š Sant Jordi in Mallorca 2026

๐Ÿ“… April 23
๐Ÿ“ Across Mallorca

Books, roses, and love fill the streets – Sant Jordi is one of the most beautiful and meaningful days of the year in Mallorca. ๐ŸŒน

Celebrated on April 23, this beloved tradition blends literature, romance, and local culture, transforming towns and cities across the island into open-air celebrations of stories and connection.

โœจ The tradition

Sant Jordi is rooted in the legend of Saint George, who defeated a dragon to save a princess – where the dragonโ€™s blood touched the ground, a red rose is said to have bloomed ๐ŸŒน

Today, the tradition lives on through a simple but powerful gesture:

  • ๐ŸŒน A rose is given as a symbol of love
  • ๐Ÿ“š A book is gifted in return

Over time, it has evolved into a celebration of literature, coinciding with World Book Day, making it a day for both romance and reading.

๐ŸŒฟ What to expect in Mallorca

Across the islandโ€”especially in Palma, Sรณller, Inca, and local village squaresโ€”youโ€™ll find:

  • ๐Ÿ“š Book stalls lining the streets with local and international titles
  • โœ๏ธ Author signings & literary events
  • ๐ŸŒน Rose stands filling the air with colour and scent
  • ๐ŸŽถ Live music & cultural performances
  • ๐ŸŽจ Workshops, storytelling & family activities

In Palma, the atmosphere is particularly vibrant, with central streets and plazas turning into a lively literary market from morning to evening.

๐Ÿ’ซ Why itโ€™s special

Sant Jordi isnโ€™t just an event – itโ€™s a feeling.

Itโ€™s couples exchanging roses and books, friends wandering between stalls, children discovering stories, and locals embracing one of the most poetic traditions of the Mediterranean.

Simple, beautiful, and full of meaning – a day to slow down, gift something thoughtful, and celebrate culture in its most human form.
