🎉 Mucada Sineu 2026
Every August, the streets of Sineu turn pastel pink as thousands of people gather for La Mucada, one of Mallorca’s most original and distinctive summer celebrations.
Returning for its 23rd edition on Monday, 10 August 2026, the festival blends parody, folklore and tradition into a celebration unlike anything else on the island. At its heart are the legendary characters es Much and sa Muca, whose playful mythology, rituals and unmistakable humour have created a festival with its own language, traditions and devoted following.
The celebrations begin from around 10:00 am, when decorated floats gather at the IES Sineu before making their way to the Puig de Reig. Here, visitors can witness one of the festival’s most iconic moments: the invocation of es Much, complete with the famous mock battle between Saracens and Christians, a tongue-in-cheek contest involving a tug-of-war while holding olive oil in the mouth, followed by the challenge to find the lucky participant who will sound the magical horn.
As excitement builds, the appearance of es Much marks one of the most anticipated moments of the day before the celebrations continue back into the town.
Around midday, es Much makes a triumphant entrance into Sineu before heading to the Town Hall for the traditional opening speech, which is always delivered with a satirical and often thought-provoking tone. The afternoon continues with the Encèrvol and the entertaining Corridas de Sant Mukín, before the town pauses for lunch in Sineu’s cafés and restaurants.
At around 5:30 pm, crowds gather in Plaça des Fossar for s’Enqüentro, the long-awaited reunion between es Much and sa Muca, another of the festival’s defining moments.
The evening also brings the results of the unique “Muquicipal Elections”, held throughout July to choose who will portray es Much and sa Muca for the 2027 and 2028 editions. At around 8:00 pm, the results are announced before the ceremonial handover from this year’s characters, Maties Gámez and Martina Fernández de Heredia, to their successors.
Whether it’s your first Mucada or you’re already a proud muchaire, expect a day full of music, humour, tradition and a wonderfully surreal atmosphere that has made this one of Mallorca’s most iconic local festivals.
