🎃 Halloween in Mallorca 2026 · Traditions, Trick-or-Treating & Spooky Plans
Trick or treat? Or bunyols and a little Mallorcan tradition? 👻
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, 31 October 2026, which means a whole weekend of spooky celebrations across Mallorca, from children’s costume parties and pumpkin workshops to haunted houses, themed dinners, DJ nights and late-night fiestas.
But here’s something worth knowing: Halloween isn’t traditionally a Mallorcan celebration. Or at least, not quite in the way you might imagine.
Long before pumpkins, plastic skeletons and trick-or-treating became popular, Mallorca had its own customs surrounding Tots Sants (All Saints’ Day) on 1 November and Dia dels Difunts (All Souls’ Day) on 2 November.
And today? The island celebrates a little bit of both.
🕯️ The Real Traditions · Tots Sants & Dia dels Difunts
In Mallorca, the beginning of November has traditionally been a time to remember loved ones who have passed away.
Families visit cemeteries, clean and decorate graves with flowers, and spend time remembering relatives and friends.
Tots Sants, celebrated on 1 November, is an important date in the local calendar, while Dia dels Difunts follows on 2 November.
It’s a quieter, more reflective side of the season, quite different from the costumes and parties associated with modern Halloween.
🍩 Rosaris Ensucrats · Mallorca’s Sweetest Tradition
Forget trick-or-treat bags for a moment. Mallorca has its own rather delicious tradition for children!
One of the island’s best-loved All Saints customs is the rosari ensucrat, a colourful necklace made from sweets, chocolates and other treats, traditionally given to children by their godparents.
Often finished with a larger sweet or decorative piece, these edible necklaces can still be found in traditional bakeries and sweet shops around the island in the days leading up to Tots Sants.
You’ll also find seasonal treats such as panellets, small almond-based sweets associated with All Saints celebrations.
A little reminder that Mallorca had its own sweet traditions long before Halloween sweets arrived.
🍬 Do Children Actually Go Trick-or-Treating in Mallorca?
Yes, but it’s not quite like in the movies!
Trick-or-treating (truco o trato) has become increasingly popular, especially among families with young children and in neighbourhoods with international communities.
However, it’s not a widespread door-to-door tradition across the island, and you shouldn’t expect every house to have sweets ready.
Instead, Halloween activities are often organised by schools, neighbourhood associations, local businesses and groups of families.
In some areas, children dress up and visit participating shops, cafés or homes. Elsewhere, families arrange their own trick-or-treating routes with friends and neighbours.
Our tip: Don’t simply knock on random doors expecting sweets. Look for organised neighbourhood activities or check with other local families to see where trick-or-treating is happening.
And if you’re hoping to welcome a few little monsters yourself, decorations and a bowl of sweets are usually a good way to signal that you’re joining in!

While Halloween has certainly found its place on the island, the days around Tots Sants are also an opportunity to discover Mallorca’s own seasonal traditions.

There’s room for both: a witch’s costume on Saturday night and a traditional family gathering on Sunday.
