Fira Nocturna de la Patata 2026
Every June, the town of Sa Pobla celebrates one of Mallorca’s most beloved gastronomic events: the Fira Nocturna de la Patata, a lively evening fair dedicated to the product that has shaped the town’s identity for generations – the famous patata poblera. Taking place on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June 2026 from 19:30, the event transforms the Plaça Major into a vibrant open-air food festival filled with local flavours, live music and community spirit.
More than just a food fair, this celebration marks the end of the annual potato export campaign and pays tribute to the farmers whose dedication has made Sa Pobla’s potatoes famous far beyond Mallorca. Restaurants, bars, associations and producers come together to showcase the incredible versatility of this humble ingredient, serving everything from traditional Mallorcan dishes to creative modern interpretations.
A Special Edition: 100 Years of the Royal Kidney Potato
The 2026 edition is particularly significant, as it marks 100 years since the arrival of the Royal Kidney potato variety in Sa Pobla. Introduced in 1926 as an experimental crop, this variety would go on to revolutionise local agriculture and establish Sa Pobla as one of Mallorca’s most important agricultural centres. A century later, the potato remains at the heart of the town’s economy, gastronomy and cultural identity.
What to Expect
Visitors can stroll through the illuminated town square while sampling dozens of potato-inspired dishes created by local bars, restaurants and associations. From classic frit de porc, Russian salad and potato omelettes to potato ice cream, potato brownies, stuffed potatoes, potato brioche burgers and even potato vodka cocktails, the fair celebrates the ingredient in all its forms.
