Festes de Santa Càndida 2026 in Llucmajor

One of Llucmajor’s most anticipated summer traditions returns as the Festes de Santa Càndida bring ten days of celebrations to the town from 31 July to 9 August. Expect a vibrant programme of concerts, traditional Mallorcan culture, family activities, theatre, sports, parades, food, dancing and lively evening revetles, culminating in the feast day celebrations honouring Santa Càndida, co-patron saint of Llucmajor.

Highlights

  • Traditional opening ceremony and raising of the festival flag
  • Ball de bot and folk performances
  • Family caparrots workshops and children’s parade
  • Theatre, tribute concerts and live music
  • 6th Festival Líric de Llucmajor
  • Garrova Estrucada celebration
  • Revetla Jove and the Gran Revetla featuring Tomeu Penya
  • Foam party and family activities
  • Feast Day procession, floral offering and traditional dances
  • Closing concert by the Banda de Música de Llucmajor

Programme Highlights

Friday, 31 July
The festivities officially begin with the traditional procession carrying the festival flag to Sant Miquel Parish, accompanied by the Xeremiers de sa Marina. The evening continues with the official raising of the flag, traditional ball de bot by Xicalènia, and the charity comedy show Hay gente pa tó! El Show in the Claustre de Sant Bonaventura.

Saturday, 1 August
Enjoy a fun watermelon eating competition for all ages organised by the Quintos before an open-air theatre performance of Memòries d’un Citroën embruixat in the evening.

Monday, 3 August
Families can join the first of three caparrots (traditional giant heads) workshops, where participants create their own figures ahead of Thursday’s parade.

Tuesday, 4 August
The caparrots workshop continues before the evening concert Back to Black, a tribute to Amy Winehouse, in Plaça d’Espanya.

Wednesday, 5 August
The final caparrots workshop is followed by a line dancing evening with dinner and live music, while comedian Miki Pons presents his humorous monologue at the Claustre de Sant Bonaventura.

Thursday, 6 August
One of the week’s favourite family events sees children parade through Llucmajor with the caparrots they have created, accompanied by the Xeremiers. The evening concludes with the 6th Festival Líric de Llucmajor, featuring opera, zarzuela and candlelit classical music.

Friday, 7 August
The day includes activities at the senior residence before an evening piano recital featuring Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Later, Plaça d’Espanya comes alive for the popular Revetla Jove.

Saturday, 8 August
A packed day begins with children’s street painting and a foam party before the lively Garrova Estrucada, one of the festival’s signature celebrations. In the evening, Llucmajor’s giants, demons and legendary characters parade through the town before the Gran Revetla, featuring Tomeu Penya on his Aprop teu tour, supported by EVA and Jaume Colombàs & Friends.

Sunday, 9 August – Feast Day
Festival day begins with the traditional dawn music from the Xeremiers, followed by a freestyle chess tournament. During the evening, the floral offering and procession honour Santa Càndida, accompanied by the Cavallets Cotoners, Giants, local folk groups and the Banda de Música de Llucmajor. The celebrations continue with the feast day mass, traditional dances, football, and conclude with a concert by the Banda de Música de Llucmajor in Plaça de Sant Bonaventura.

Most events are held around Plaça d’Espanya, Claustre de Sant Bonaventura, Parròquia de Sant Miquel and other locations throughout Llucmajor’s old town, creating a festive atmosphere from morning until late into the evening.

While many activities celebrate local traditions – including giants, xeremiers, ball de bot, processions and the feast day of Santa Càndida – the programme also includes modern concerts, comedy, children’s entertainment, foam parties and open-air performances for all ages.
