Every September, Petra pays tribute to its most famous son – Saint Juníper Serra – with a week of festivities that blend faith, tradition, and community.
From church services and novenas to parades, music, and cultural activities, the town fills with colour and celebration under the motto: “Sempre endavant, mai cap enrere. Salut i molts d’anys!”

🌟 Programme Highlights
- Saturday, 6 September → Opening bells, flags across Petra, and an open-air folk dance with Rondalla des Pla and Tramudança.
- Sunday, 7 September → Opening speech (pregó) by Petra Mayol Moragues and a guitar recital by Damià Timoner.
- Thursday, 11 September → Traditional lantern-making workshop followed by the magical lantern parade with xeremiers.
- Friday, 12 September → Sopar a la fresca – neighbours gather for outdoor community dinners.
- Saturday, 13 September → Guided visit of the parish’s treasures and Sant Juníper’s solemn vespers with blessing of laurel and juniper.
- Sunday, 14 September – Main Day
- Morning: Solemn Mass with the Ball de l’Oferta.
- Afternoon: Parade of floats, horsemen, giants, folk groups, and bands from across Mallorca — a spectacular procession through Petra’s streets.
- Evening: Floral offering, hymn to Sant Juníper, communal refreshments, and an open-air concert of havaneres by Arpellots Havaneres Band.
