Beyond the aquarium’s walls, the Palma Aquarium Foundation for Environmental Protection works year-round to protect the Balearic Islands’ extraordinary marine environment and the species that call it home.

Its work combines marine conservation, wildlife rescue, research, education and public awareness, helping turn a love for the Mediterranean into meaningful action.

One of the Foundation’s most important roles is the rescue and recovery of vulnerable marine animals, working alongside local authorities, institutions and specialist organisations to assist wildlife in distress and support its return to the sea whenever possible.

Education is another major part of its mission. Through environmental programmes, workshops, campaigns and awareness initiatives, the Foundation encourages children and adults alike to better understand the challenges facing our oceans — from plastic pollution and marine litter to the protection of threatened species and fragile ecosystems.

The Foundation also collaborates with scientists, public administrations, schools, NGOs and other organisations, creating a wider network committed to conserving the Mediterranean and inspiring more responsible ways of interacting with the sea.
