Part concept store, part creative platform and part design destination, Obsolete has quietly become one of Mallorca’s most inspiring places to discover independent fashion, beautiful interiors and thoughtfully curated brands.
Founded by British-born curator and hotelier Michael Roberts, Obsolete grew from a lifelong passion for collecting, craftsmanship and storytelling. After settling in Valldemossa in the early 1990s, Michael and his wife Maria transformed their family home into Son Viscos, an intimate agroturismo whose calm, lived-in aesthetic became the foundation for everything Obsolete is today. Rather than creating traditional retail spaces, Michael set out to build places that feel inspiring, personal and full of character.
Today, Obsolete spans several unique locations across Mallorca, each with its own personality while sharing the same philosophy: timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship and meaningful experiences.
Obsolete Flagship · Deià
The original flagship store is dedicated to handcrafted fashion and artisan textiles sourced from around the world. Sustainable fashion, hand-dyed garments, Nepalese cashmere, Madagascan raffia accessories and carefully selected international designers sit alongside long-term residencies such as Antik Batik, creating a shopping experience that feels both worldly and deeply personal.
Obsolete Collective · Deià
Just a few steps away, Obsolete Collective expands the concept beyond shopping.
Set inside a beautifully restored traditional Mallorcan house, the space brings together Balearic and Spanish fashion, interiors and wellness through an ever-changing programme of designer residencies and collaborations. Throughout the summer, it hosts intimate founder events, brand launches, exhibitions and creative gatherings, allowing visitors to meet the people behind the brands and discover something new with every visit.
It is also home to Lost in Beauty Studio, where some of the island’s most sought-after beauty and wellness practitioners are in residence.
Obsolete House · Deià
Open exclusively during July and August, Obsolete House is the brand’s seasonal summer pop-up, located next to Belmond La Residencia.
Here, the Obsolete edit reaches its most elevated expression, bringing together luxury resortwear, wearable art, fine jewellery, exclusive designer collections and immersive installations inside one of Deià’s most beautiful spaces.
Obsolete Valldemossa
In the heart of Valldemossa, Obsolete’s spacious concept store offers a different perspective on the brand.
Beautiful furniture, antique ceramics, decorative objects, fashion and accessories are displayed alongside carefully curated seasonal collaborations, including this summer’s The Odder Side pop-up. It’s the perfect place to discover unique pieces for both your home and wardrobe while soaking up the relaxed atmosphere that defines Obsolete.
