📍 Bay of Palma (Palma, Can Pastilla, s’Arenal)
📅 March 27 – April 4, 2026
🎟️ Free (spectator viewing)

Mallorca becomes the global centre of Olympic sailing with the return of the 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofía, one of the most important regattas in the world and the opening event of the 2026 Sailing Grand Slam.

Over 1,100 sailors from 62 countries and around 900 boats will compete across the Bay of Palma, bringing together the world’s elite in Olympic sailing classes — many of them future Olympic medallists.

🌊 What to Expect

From high-speed foiling boards to technical dinghy racing, the competition showcases all Olympic sailing disciplines, including:
⛵ 470 Mixed, 49er & 49erFX
🌬️ iQFOiL (windsurf foil)
🪁 Formula Kite
🌊 ILCA classes & Nacra 17

The final races on Saturday, April 4 (Medal Races) are the most exciting, with the top athletes battling it out for victory.

🗓️ Key Dates

  • March 27–29 → Opening races (cruisers, inclusive classes, One Design)
  • March 30 – April 4 → Olympic classes competition
  • April 4 → Medal Races (finals)

👀 Where to Watch

While most races take place offshore, there are several great land-based viewing spots:

🌴 Palma Bay Promenade

From Portixol → Can Pastilla → Playa de Palma, you’ll have wide views of the race areas — especially on windy days when boats sail closer to shore.

⚓ Port Areas & Yacht Clubs

  • Real Club Náutico de Palma
  • Club Nàutic s’Arenal
  • Can Pastilla harbour

These areas are perfect to see boats launching, returning, and teams preparing, offering a more behind-the-scenes feel.

🌊 Best Viewing Moments

  • Afternoons (approx. 13:00–17:00) when races are active
  • Final day (April 4) for the most intense action
  • Windy days = boats closer to shore and more spectacular racing

✨ Why Go

Even if you’re not into sailing, this is one of those events that completely transforms the bay — with hundreds of sails on the horizon, an international atmosphere, and a real sense of Mallorca as a global sporting destination.

A perfect excuse for a seaside walk with a bit of world-class sport in the background. 🌞
