✨ Neules: a living Christmas tradition in Mallorca

Delicate, white and intricately cut, neules are one of Mallorca’s most beloved Christmas traditions. Originally made from wafer-thin dough and later from paper, these handcrafted decorations have long adorned churches, homes and public spaces during the festive season. Hung from ceilings or displayed alongside nativity scenes (betlems), neules symbolise light, patience, craftsmanship and community.

More than decoration, neules are about gathering: neighbours meeting to cut, hang and admire them together; villages opening their doors so everyone can stroll, pause and feel part of something shared. In recent years, this tradition has been increasingly celebrated through special events across the island — turning neules into a true cultural experience.

🌟 Neules events across Mallorca

La Nit de Neules (Inca)

📍 Inca
🗓 Friday, 27 December · 20:30–22:30

On this special night, several spaces across Inca open outside their usual hours, inviting visitors to wander calmly through illuminated interiors, neules displays and Christmas installations. A slow, reflective walk celebrating shared heritage and collective identity.

VI Festa de les Neules (Sencelles)

📍 Sencelles
🗓 Sunday, 28 December 2025 · 18:00
📌 Parish Church of Sant Pere

A warm, community-led celebration featuring choirs, traditional groups, giants and local associations. An evening of music, village spirit and Christmas emotion, centred around the beauty of neules.

Temps de Neules (Manacor)

📍 Manacor
🗓 6 December – 18 January

As part of the Temps de Neules programme promoted by the Ajuntament de Manacor, the town celebrates the art of neules through open routes of neules and betlems across different spaces. The initiative is supported once again by Neuleres i Neulers de Mallorca, helping to preserve and spread this traditional craft.

🗺️ Neules and nativity routes remain open until after Three Kings.

✨ Whether in a church, a historic building or a quiet street, these events invite us to slow down, look up, and reconnect with a tradition that continues to define Christmas in Mallorca.
