The Jazz Voyeur Festival will celebrate its 17th edition from October 25 to December 19, featuring a diverse array of jazz styles.
Highlights include José James‘ performance, blending jazz with influences like soul and hip hop, and the debut of Brazilian guitarist Egberto Gismonti. Additionally, flamenco-jazz pianist Chano Domínguez will celebrate 45 years of music, while trumpeter Dave Douglas will add a unique blend of contemporary classical and world music. The festival will conclude with a gospel celebration from the Bridget Brazile & The New Orleans Gospel Choir.
The festival will also feature a Cine & Jazz cycle showcasing two documentaries about Tom Jobim, a pivotal figure in Brazilian popular music. These screenings will provide context for the celebrated artist Egberto Gismonti, who is part of the festival lineup. The films will be shown on November 7 and November 20 at Es Baluard Museu, and entry is free.
Additionally, the Jazz Voyeur Festival offers three free masterclasses led by national and international artists, providing musicians and aspiring jazz enthusiasts an opportunity to delve into the genre’s nuances:
- November 3: Conversation with Chano Domínguez and Martirio at Teatre Principal de Palma, 17:00.
- November 17: Conversation with Dave Douglas at Trui Teatre, 19:00.
- December 19: Conversation with Bridget Bazile & Vincent Balse at Trui Teatre, 19:00.
