The 5th edition of FLEM (Festival de Literatura Expandida Magaluf) returns this October with its most international line-up yet – where literature, music, and art collide in an unconventional seaside setting.

✨ International voices confirmed:
- Siri Hustvedt, award-winning American author (2019 Princess of Asturias Prize for Literature), whose works have been translated into 30+ languages.
- Rita Bullwinkel, rising American novelist, finalist for the 2025 Pulitzer Prize, hailed by The New York Times and The Guardian.
- Helen Fielding, creator of Bridget Jones, in her only Spanish appearance.
- Pedro Mairal and Dolores Reyes, two of Argentina’s most celebrated contemporary writers.
(Note: John Boyne, initially announced, will not attend for reasons beyond the festival’s control.)
📚 Spanish & Mallorcan talent highlights:
- Joana Marcús, Mallorca’s own YA superstar, currently the second best-selling author in Spain & Latin America.
- Javier Cercas, celebrated for his bestselling El loco de Dios en el fin del mundo.
- Plus: Megan Maxwell, Antònia Vicens, Eva Baltasar, María Oruña, Blanca Lacasa, Glòria de Castro, Paula Bonet, Isaac Rosa, Marta Jiménez Serrano, Sebastià Portell, Sandra Miró, Laura Gost, Rafael Tarradas, Antoni Vidal Ferrando, Damià Rotger, and many more.
🎶 Beyond literature:
- Music: Performances by Ona Mafalda, Carlos Sadness, Miguel Marcos, Anaïs Rosso (inaugural concert), One Man Rocks, The Hawaiians, plus DJ sets from Sideways, Cobie, Gÿe and Marlon Rudolph.
- Performing arts: 39º a l’ombra, an original music & dance piece inspired by Antònia Vicens.
- Bob Pop with De cuerpo presente — a unique re-reading of his iconic poems, nearly three decades later.
- Food & culture: Chef María Lo (MasterChef 10 winner), plus podcast recordings (Mucho Texto, Mamarracha, Llegir per Llegir, Aire by IB3).
🎨 Immersive experiences:
Screening of Bridget Jones’s Diary.nia Vicens, Megan Maxwell, María Oruña, Blanca Lacasa, Agustina Guerrero, Eva Baltasar, and Glòria de Castro.
The festival’s Secret Rooms at INNSiDE: site-specific art installations blending literature, design, and performance — featuring Albert Pinya, Patricia Bolaños, Ana Jarén, Sergi Solé, and rare Joan Miró lithographs.
Guided cultural routes through Magaluf — from history walks with Tomeu Canyelles & Gabriel Vives to neon heritage tours with Toni Sorell.
A beach cleanup & marine awareness action with Cruz Roja.
The return of Quadernit, the cult quiz show from Cuaderno Blackie Books.
⚽ Special events:
- The European Writers’ Football Championship: Spain’s “La Cervantina” team faces off against Italy and Germany.
- Professional industry sessions on publishing, copyright, and cross-disciplinary adaptations.
