Constitution Day (Mallorca)

Today marks the anniversary of Spain’s 1978 Constitution.

Date: Every year on December 6th

More information

This holiday marks the anniversary of Spain’s 1978 Constitution. While celebrations are low-key on Mallorca, it’s a good opportunity to enjoy cultural activities or explore quieter streets and towns as locals take a day off, or leave the island for a long weekend.

On certain public holidays, shops in the Balearic Islands are allowed to open. Today, December 6th, is one of those days – perfect for getting ahead on your pre-Christmas shopping!

Mallorca observes public holidays at the national, regional, and local levels. For a full list and more information here.

The Calendar's Note

Tips for Public Holidays in Mallorca:

    • Shops and Services: Many businesses, including supermarkets, close on public holidays. However, in tourist areas like Palma, restaurants and select stores often remain open.

    • Transport: Public transportation typically runs on reduced schedules. Be sure to plan your travels accordingly.

    • Cultural Events: Public holidays often feature vibrant cultural celebrations, parades, and markets. Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in Mallorca’s rich traditions!
