Palma’s libraries come alive with contemporary art in Biblioteques en flames, a new project from CAC Palma Arts Visuals. Four artists – Stefano Calligaro, Bartomeu Sastre, Anna Dot and Enric Farrés Duran – present site-specific installations exploring books, text and reading, transforming each library into a space of discovery.

More than just exhibitions, Biblioteques en flames reclaims the role of libraries as cultural and social hubs at the heart of community life.

Artists & Interventions

  • Joan Alcover: Stefano Calligaro  large-format Poetricks (new poetic texts in Catalan/Spanish/English) + publications.
Bartomeu Sastre – small-format photographic/mixed-media works and a new, site-specific intervention among the reading areas.
  • Ramon Llull: Enric Farrés Duran – a new library-specific intervention developed after two research residencies (May & Sept).
  • Es Molinar: Anna Dot – a kinetic, ceiling-hung sculpture exploring asemic writing inspired by sunlight and reading, with subtle textual insertions on the shelves.

🎤 Programme:

  • Talk – “Cuerpo de texto” by Enric Farrés Duran · Oct 1, 19:00 · Ramon Llull Library
  • Workshops for schools (ages 8–12):
    · Oct 1, 19:00 · Anna Dot (Es Molinar)
    · Oct 1, 19:00 · Bartomeu Sastre & Stefano Calligaro (Joan Alcover)

The project underscores libraries as living, permeable spaces where knowledge, community, and creativity meet—renewing their role as engines of social dynamisation and aligning Palma with a clear, European cultural vision.
