Step back in time and explore the fascinating origins of tourism in the Balearic Islands. Architours offers an exclusive cultural tour through the Planas Archive, the largest European archive dedicated to tourism.
A VIP Cultural Tour Through the Planas Archive
Housed in a former photo development factory, the Planas Archive is home to over 3 million images, chronicling the evolution of tourism in Spain. The collection includes industrial postcards that traveled the world, early hotel photographs, and cultural events from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
Founded by Josep Planas i Montanyà, a pioneer in tourism photography, the archive also preserves his extensive camera collection and historical photographic equipment. Today, the archive is managed by visual artist and researcher Marina Planas, offering a contemporary artistic perspective on archival storytelling.
This one-of-a-kind experience invites you to rediscover the heritage, memory, and identity of the Balearic Islands through the lens of tourism history.
